Privacy policy

The controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:

We process personal data only as far as necessary for this website and for handling your reservation. We do not use your details for advertising. We only send a newsletter if you have subscribed voluntarily and confirmed your subscription (see section 12).

When you open this website, our hosting provider processes technically necessary data, such as the IP address, date and time, the page requested and the browser type, to deliver the page and keep it secure. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure and stable operation).

The hosting provider is Vercel Inc., USA. A data processing agreement is in place. Any transfer to the USA relies on appropriate safeguards under Chapter V GDPR, in particular EU standard contractual clauses.

When you reserve a table, we process your name, e-mail address and phone number as well as the date, time and number of guests. We record telephone reservations in the same system.

The purpose is to handle the reservation, to confirm or decline it by e-mail and to contact you by phone with questions. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (pre-contractual measures and performance of a contract).

We keep your contact details (name, e-mail address, phone number) for up to 2 years after the reservation date. After that they are deleted irreversibly. Only information that does not identify you remains (date, time, party size, table, status), which we use for statistics.

Your data is not passed on for advertising purposes.

Supabase (database): storage of reservation data on servers in Frankfurt am Main (EU).

Resend (e-mail delivery): sending confirmation and notification e-mails. Any transfer to the USA relies on EU standard contractual clauses.

Data processing agreements under Art. 28 GDPR are in place with all service providers.

If you write to us or call us, we process your details to answer your enquiry (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR).

A map from Google Maps is embedded on the contact page. When the page is opened, a connection to Google’s servers is established and your IP address, among other data, is transmitted to Google (Google Ireland Limited, Ireland, or Google LLC, USA). The legal basis is our legitimate interest in an easily found route description under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. We store a technically necessary cookie for your language choice. Technically necessary session cookies are used for our team’s sign-in.

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21). You can withdraw any consent at any time with effect for the future. Please contact info@al-dente-potsdam.de.

You can lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Access to Information of Brandenburg, Stahnsdorfer Damm 77, 14532 Kleinmachnow, Germany.

Data is transmitted in encrypted form (TLS). Reservation data is only accessible to authorised members of the restaurant’s team.

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we use your e-mail address to send you news, seasonal dishes and offers from the restaurant by e-mail. Subscribing is voluntary. You can do so with the form on our website or with a voluntary, unchecked box in the reservation form. A reservation is always possible without subscribing and is not affected by it.

We use the double opt-in procedure: after you sign up we send you an e-mail with a confirmation link. You only receive the newsletter after you confirm. For this we store your e-mail address, the chosen language, the source of the sign-up (website or reservation), the time of consent and of confirmation, and the version of the consent text. We do not copy other details, such as your name or reservation data, into the newsletter list.

The legal basis is your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. You can withdraw it at any time with effect for the future, for example with the “Unsubscribe from the newsletter” link in every newsletter e-mail or by e-mail to info@al-dente-potsdam.de. After you unsubscribe you will not receive any more newsletters. Your address then stays only on a suppression list so that you are not contacted again by mistake.

We use the service provider Resend to send the e-mails. The newsletter data is stored in our database (Supabase). These providers process data on our behalf. Important e-mails about a reservation (receipt, confirmation and cancellation) are not advertising and are sent independently of the newsletter.
